Free AE plugin from Video Copilot. Ctrl + Space to activate the search console, it applies any effects / presets found to selected layers. Also renders and keeps track of full res screenshots (or frames) of your project for easy comparison. Can also replace default settings of effects with presets.

Creative Impatience Plugins for Adobe Premiere & After Effects CS5+
All of them are pretty useful, but the 2 I use the most are "Simple Mask" and "Feathered Crop" I use CS6 and these plugins are absolute game changers. I use one of them in every single vid. Note: these plugins are probably useless to you if you use CC, but technically they should still work with current versions. Also, while they work for AfterEffects, I wouldn't bother installing them there. These are really only best used in Premiere.
